Step by step
Step 01
Check where the leak starts
A sink or toilet problem may be stopped locally.
Step 02
Locate the fixture valve
Look beneath the sink or behind the toilet near the supply line.
Step 03
Find the main house valve
Check near the incoming water line, utility room, or outdoor entry.
Step 04
Identify the valve type
Wheel-style valves turn; lever-style ball valves move a quarter-turn.
Step 05
Close it gently
Turn until closed without forcing seized hardware.
Step 06
Test and record
Open a faucet to confirm flow stops; label and photograph the valve.
Diagrams are schematic overviews, not exact vehicle or product instructions.
